How to Make a Flat Jewelry Tree<br /><br />A flat jewelry tree is used to display a variety of costume jewelry such as pendants, earrings, brooches, lapel pins, necklaces and bracelets. A pine tree shape is used to encapsulate the jewelry into a dazzling display. The jewelry is encased in a picture frame under glass to insure the jewelry stays in place and is not damaged by the elements.<br /><br />Things Youll Need:Wire cuttersStep 2 Locate the top center and mark. Lightly draw the shape of the pine tree and base, if desired, on the foam core board. The costume jewelry is glued to the edges are just past the line to prevent the line from being seen.<br /><br />Step 3 Remove the backs from all pieces of costume jewelry. Bend and break them off with your hands or a needle nose pliers. Cut the backs off with a wire cutter.<br /><br />Step 4 Arrange the pieces of costume jewelry in the shape of the pine tree. Rearrange the pieces until the tree looks aesthetically pleasing.<br /><br />Step 5 Remove one piece at a time and hot glue it to the foam core surface.<br /><br />Step 6 Outline the outside of the tree with beaded necklaces or chains. Add draping across the front of the tree using the same items.<br /><br />Step 7 Allow the hot glue to dry 1 hour. Place the completed project in the shadow box frame.<br /><br />A jewelry tree takes a large quantity of costume jewelry items to complete.
